Canon Without Amnesia

Historical Continuity Without Accidental Canon

Long-running fictional settings do not only accumulate lore. They accumulate obsolete lore, earlier names, abandoned versions, campaign-only truths, and ideas that were never meant to become canon. Brian built an authority model that preserves those layers instead of flattening them.

Common Ground remains searchable as an earlier Unknown Shores development era without becoming current lore. Clavien Seinrill remains linked to Corvyn's historical development without rewriting old sources or importing obsolete characterization. The same model separates historical design, current World Anvil canon, current campaign reality, and intended product material.

What the work demonstrates

  • continuity architecture
  • canon governance
  • historical-version awareness
  • provenance and legacy-identity design
  • safer narrative retrieval
