Nightsong

The Ancestral Sword of the Seinrill Family

Nightsong is the ancestral sword of the Seinrill family, passed down through 14 generations of arcane knights and sorcerers. This legendary blade, originally a sword of the planes, has been enhanced over centuries with the power of countless artifacts and spells. The blade itself is forged from a dark, otherworldly metal that shimmers with an ethereal light, and its hilt is adorned with intricate designs that glow faintly in the presence of magic. The sword's name, Nightsong, comes from the haunting melody that can be heard when it is drawn, a sound said to resonate from the very fabric of the multiverse.

Powers and Abilities

Planar Strike: Nightsong retains its ability to cut through the barriers between planes. When Corvyn attacks with Nightsong, he can choose to deal an additional 6d10 force damage, and the target must make a DC 22 Constitution saving throw or be banished to a random plane for 1 minute. The banished creature can attempt a DC 22 Charisma saving throw at the end of each of its turns to return to its original plane.   Dimensional Rift: Once per short rest, Corvyn can slash through the air with Nightsong to create a temporary rift between planes. This functions as the Gate spell, allowing Corvyn to summon a creature or transport himself and others to another plane.   Shadow Meld: Nightsong can merge with the shadows, granting Corvyn the ability to become invisible as a bonus action. This invisibility lasts until the start of his next turn or until he attacks or casts a spell. Additionally, while invisible, Corvyn can move through solid objects as if they were difficult terrain.   Ethereal Form: Corvyn can use Nightsong to shift into the Ethereal Plane for up to 10 minutes. While in this form, he can move through objects and creatures as if they were difficult terrain and is immune to all non-magical damage. He can return to the Material Plane as a bonus action.   Moonlit Edge: The blade of Nightsong glows with a soft, moonlit light when wielded in darkness, granting Corvyn advantage on attack rolls against creatures that rely on sight. Additionally, it deals an extra 4d8 radiant damage to undead and fiends.   Astral Bind: Nightsong can tether a creature to the Material Plane. When Corvyn strikes a creature with this ability, the target must make a DC 22 Wisdom saving throw or be unable to teleport or travel between planes for 1 hour. This ability can be used three times per long rest.   Celestial Harmony: Nightsong harmonizes with the celestial bodies. Once per long rest, Corvyn can call down the power of the stars, causing radiant starlight to erupt from the blade. This functions as the Meteor Swarm spell, dealing 20d6 fire and 20d6 radiant damage to all creatures within a 40-foot radius of each impact point (DC 22 Dexterity saving throw for half damage).   Void Shroud: Nightsong can wrap Corvyn in an aura of darkness, rendering him invisible and granting him resistance to all damage for 1 minute. During this time, he can see in magical darkness and his attacks deal an additional 2d10 necrotic damage. This ability can be used once per long rest.   Eclipsing Strike: When Corvyn swings Nightsong, he can channel the power of an eclipse, causing the blade to emit a wave of dark energy. This wave extends in a 60-foot cone and forces all creatures in the area to make a DC 22 Dexterity saving throw or take 8d10 necrotic damage and be blinded for 1 minute. This ability can be used once per short rest.   Nightwalker's Step: Nightsong grants Corvyn the ability to teleport up to 120 feet to a location he can see, leaving behind a shadowy afterimage that distracts enemies. Creatures within 10 feet of the starting point must make a DC 22 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened until the end of their next turn. This ability can be used three times per long rest. Celestial Conduit: Nightsong allows Corvyn to channel the raw energy of the multiverse. He can use the sword as a spellcasting focus, granting him advantage on spell attack rolls and a +2 bonus to spell save DCs. Additionally, he can store up to 5 spell levels within the sword, releasing them as a bonus action. Spells stored must be cast into the sword and cannot exceed 5 levels in total.   Void Shroud: Nightsong can wrap Corvyn in an aura of darkness, rendering him invisible and granting him resistance to all damage for 1 minute. During this time, he can see in magical darkness, and his attacks deal an additional 2d10 necrotic damage. Arcane Absorption: Nightsong can absorb incoming spells. When Corvyn is targeted by a spell, he can use his reaction to absorb the spell into the sword. If the spell is of 5th level or lower, it has no effect on Corvyn and is stored within the sword, adding its spell levels to the sword's storage capacity (up to 5 levels). Corvyn can then release these spells as a bonus action or use them to fuel his own spellcasting.
